Sometimes life does not go the way that it is anticipated. It may feel like the world is closing in with all of the events and difficulties in it. The Psalmist writes in chapter 43 Vindicate me, God, and champion my cause against an unfaithful nation; rescue me from the deceitful and unjust person. The Psalmist is pleading with God to work despite the unfaithfulness that is surrounding him or her. The verses following continue the plea along with the question of why is God doing what he is doing. It culminates in verse 5 which reads Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God. What is the Christian to do when the nation around them is unfaithful? Praise God. Why? Because if nothing else he sent his Son as the Savior and Redeemer. God might deliver his children from a horrible situation and he might not. One idea that is certain, is that if people put their hope and faith in Jesus, they will always have a reason to praise God.
