Many people have theorized that all of the events that are unfolding around us are signs of the “end times”. Jesus speaks very specifically yet vaguely in regard to the timing: “Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels of heaven nor the Son—except the Father alone. So, is the world approaching the end? Who knows? Only God does. Jesus’ followers were caught up on the timing of the events while what Jesus really wanted them to grasp was what to do while waiting. This is why you are also to be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Jesus’ focus was not on the timing but rather preparation. In essence, it is a waste of time and resources to theorize about the timing. If the church is truly prepared, it will rejoice on the day because it will be reunited with the Lord. But while the church must wait with eager anticipation it should occupy itself by sharing the gospel with others.
